Welcome to American Legion Post 248

Blue Ridge, Georgia

Trout Capital of Georgia

🇺🇸💚 They gave everything for us — now let’s remember them. 💚🇺🇸

This December, Wreaths Across America will once again place wreaths on the graves of our local heroes at J.P. Chastain Memorial Park in Blue Ridge.

Each wreath represents a life — a father, mother, son, daughter, friend — who wore the uniform and served with courage. Many of them called Fannin County home. ❤️

Our goal is to honor every one of them with a wreath this Christmas season… but we can’t do it without you.

🌲 Sponsor a wreath today

It’s a small gesture that carries a lifetime of meaning. Let’s come together as a community and show our veterans — and their families — that we have not forgotten their sacrifice.   Currently we have 350 veteran graves at J.P.  Chastain Memorial Cemetery.  For every wreath that is sponsored, American Legion Post 248 (Blue Ridge,  GA) will receive a $5 donation back from Wreaths Across America.  These donations will help with supporting veterans, helping local families, sponsoring community events and supporting local students.   If anyone has any questions, please contact John Tucker

📅 Ceremony: December 19, 2026 at 11:00 am.

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, service members and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Membership swiftly grew to over 1 million, and local posts sprang up across the country. Today, membership stands at nearly 2 million in more than 13,000 posts worldwide. The posts are organized into 55 departments: one each for the 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines.

Over the years, the Legion has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for children and youth.

The Four Pillars of The American Legion are Veteran’s Affairs and Rehabilitation, Americanism, National Security, and Children and Youth.

Post 248 in Blue Ridge, GA is proud to support activities and organizations that promote these essential programs. We are a small, service-oriented Post. We DO NOT operate a bar, restaurant or bingo games.

We DO serve veterans and our community with help with VA Claims, emergency financial assistance, buddy checks, social outings, patriotic and memorial ceremonies and parades, flag etiquette classes, flag retirement ceremonies, and support for youth groups such as the FFA, Boy Scouts and JROTC to name a few. If this interests you, we would love to have you visit us!

If you are a Veteran and interested in joining the American Legion Family,
just visiting or a returning member we are pleased to have you join us….
