VA Claims Clinic
May 29 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

American Legion Post 248 of Blue Ridge, in concert with American Legion Post 121 of Blairsville and America Legion Post 23 of Hiawassee, is hosting a Regional VA Claims Clinic for the North Georgia area. The purpose of the Clinic is to provide an opportunity for any Veteran, spouse or widow to speak with a representative from the Veterans Benefits Administration or the Georgia Department of Veterans Services to initiate or follow up on a claim or benefit. If you want to file a claim for benefits, follow up on an existing claim or simply have questions about any benefit which you may be authorized, then this event is for you.
The American Legion knows that the VA claims process is a daunting, hard nut to crack and working with other Service Organizations like the DAV and VFW, we want to help any Veteran that needs it. The Claims Clinic is on 29 May 2025 from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Pat Haralson Civic Center located at 165 Wellborn Street in Blairsville. You can drop in anytime during that period to see a claims representative but please register at www.legionpost121.org on or before May 18th. There is no cost to register or attend this event.
To make the most of this opportunity at a minimum bring your DD214. If you’ve filed a claim with the VA in the past and you are considering a Supplemental Claim or an appeal, bring a copy of the VA decision for the previous claim. Bring an official photo ID and if you’re a surviving spouse bring the death certificate of the military member and your marriage license. If you don’t have a DD214 and you have copies of old Orders, bring those too. Basically, bring anything and everything you may have to prove your service to the military and pertinent medical records –anything that might help with the claims process.
Attendance is free but you must register by May 18th.
