Commander – James C. "Jim" Callender
Jim is a native of Louisiana, but has made Georgia his home for the past 35 years. He graduated with Honors from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1980 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. Following graduation, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army and served 25 years in the Military Police Corps, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He later worked for the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency from which he retired in April, 2020.
Following retirement, he and his wife, Leslie, moved from Henry County to their retirement home in Fannin County. Jim is active in several Veterans Service Organizations including the DAV, VFW and The American Legion and in the Blue Ridge Mountain Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Leslie is a CPA. operates her own business called On Call Accounting, LLC and continues to work from home. Leslie is also a member of The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. The Callenders have two daughters, Laura Doroski of Toronto, OH and Melissa Reece of Dallas, GA and seven grandchildren.
Sr. Vice Commander - Charles Yannis
Charles was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1969. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1988 and served in Germany. After his military service, he entered training as a police officer in New Jersey. He relocated to Las Vegas, NV in 1998 and began working for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department from which he retired in 2020. Charles and his wife Aimee moved to Blue Ridge two years ago. He now works for the Fannin County Sheriff’s Department. Charles and Aimee are members of the American Legion and the DAV.
1st Junior Vice Commander – Bob Bradley
Bob entered the US Air Force right after high school in 1975 as a Jet Engine mechanic. In 1979 he cross-trained and became a Flight Engineer on the C-141A/B. In 1986 Bob transitioned to the E-4B, National Emergency Airborne Command Post (NEACP). Later it was named the National Airborne Operations Center (NAOC), a militarized version of the Boeing 747-200 airframe. In 1992 Bob went to Headquarters Air Combat Command as the E-4B Program Manager. In 1995 Bob was selected as part of the initial cadre on the E-8A/C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS), a militarized version of the Boeing 707. Bob was an Instructor Flight Engineer on all three airframes that he flew and accumulated over 6500 flight hours and 180+ combat hours.
Bob received his Master’s Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Aeronautical Science, with specializations in Aviation/Aerospace Management and Aviation/Aerospace Safety Systems. His military service included: participation in Operation Urgent Fury, the liberation of American medical students held captive on the island of Grenada, surveillance/flight operations over Southwest Asia in Operation Southern Watch, and Operations Joint Endeavor and Joint Guard assisting United Nations forces in Bosnia-Herzegovina, providing surveillance/top cover for peacekeeping forces and monitoring warring factions for violations of UN resolutions.
After 22 years of active duty in 1998 as a MSgt (E-7), Bob retired and went to work with Flight Safety Services Corp as a flight simulator instructor and then Northrop-Grumman as the JSTARS E-8C Flight Crew Training Program Manager. He retired in 2018 with twenty years in the aviation industry following his military service.
Bob and his wife Anna moved to Blue Ridge in 2018. He is also a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Blue Ridge Post 6570 where he serves as the Post Quartermaster and Adjutant and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans Blue Ridge Chapter 28 and volunteers driving veterans to medical appointments in the DAV van.

Chaplain – Glenn Slotness
Glenn was born and raised in Duluth, MN. He attended the Univ of Minn-Duluth on an AFROTC scholarship graduating in 1983 with BA in Political Science and History. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt at the same time. He retired in 2018 as a Lt Col. He is a life member of the VFW and been in the American Legion two years.He served 33 years in the Regular Air Force; the Reserve; and the Minnesota Air National Guard as both a Technician and Logistics Readiness Officer and Planner.
During his military time, he was a: Missile Launch Officer at Malmstrom AFB, MT; , AFROTC Instructor at Wright State Univ, Dayton, OH; Ececutive Ofcr, Wright Patterson AFB, OH; Logistics Readiness Ofcr at Shaw AFB and Duluth ANGB, Aircraft Maintence Officer and a Squadron Commander (in garrison and deployed) and Duluth ANGB. While in the ANG he was also a Full Time Technician.
Deployments include two tours in Afghanistan (as a Sqd CC and attached to Special Ops), Egypt, Bahrain, Oman, Germany, Estonia, and Panama (counter drug) and various sites across the US supporting Alert missions after 9-11.
Glenn has been married to his wife Kari for 28 years. They have four daughters: Emily (Minneapolis. MN); Greta (in USAF at Eglin AFB, FL); Kapri (Chattanooga, TN); and Danielle (Mpls, MN).
