Earlier this year American Legion Post 248 of Blue Ridge assumed responsibility for maintenance of the FC Veterans Memorial Park. Since then, numerous improvements have been made including flag replacement, hedge trimming, weeding, mulching, and monument repair. Work on the faulty electrical system that powers the lights that illuminate the U.S. Flag, helicopter and walkway continues. A solar-powered light has been ordered and will be placed on top of the U.S. Flag Pole soon. Recently we received the first order of new Commemorative Bricks from the production company. Two Post members, Fletcher Stroemer and Walter Schnurr, installed them today and corrected the installation of 30 existing bricks that had been disturbed by heavy mowing equipment. See the pics below. Its a work in progress as we continue to try and improve the Park.
