In support of the VA National Salute To Veterans Week, members of American Legion Post 248 and the Auxiliary Unit 248 of Blue Ridge went to the VA Community Health Clinic in Blairsville on Valentine’s Day, 2024, to provide snacks and drinks and chat with the veterans while they were waiting on their appointments. Items were donated by these individual Post and Auxiliary members and I thank them for their contributions. Pictured from left to right are Carla Westberry, Leslie Callender, Daryl Westberry, Jim Callender, Louie the Service Dog, Walter Schnurr and an unidentified veteran (and avid Ohio State fan) waiting on his appointment (and snacks after the pic was taken). I also want to thank the staff at the Clinic for graciously supporting us with tables, napkins and other items. While there we met some great veterans and spouses from all around the Clinic’s service area, including some from NC. No one wants to go to a health clinic. Its just something we have to do from time to time – and we hope we brightened their day just a little while there.
